Missions and values of Annantalo
Annantalo is part of the cultural services of the City of Helsinki. In its operations, Annantalo implements the core tasks of the cultural services, which support the city strategy, the service strategy, and the Vision for Arts and Culture.
Annantalo is a multidisciplinary art centre for children, young people and families. Annantalo promotes equal opportunities for children and young people to make and experience art and culture in Helsinki. Our long and rich history as an authority on art guides our actions: how we act actively creates space for all kinds of art, both old and new traditions, as well as changing content.
With art, we inspire interaction and provide a safe place to deal with all kinds of phenomena, emotions and tensions. We offer children and young people the opportunity for free self-expression, as well as building blocks for a more cohesive society. The diversity of art and cultural richness create a lively Helsinki and the opportunity for a good, unique life in the form of an equal arts education.
Annantalo functions as an enabler of children’s and young people's art and culture. It brings together art and education professionals. Annantalo develops arts education, is a societal actor and maintains cultural education networks.
The values guiding Annantalo's operations can be crystallised into the words accessibility, equality, child-centredness, openness and the presence of art.
